Matthew 3:16-17 New International Version (NIV)
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Jesus was baptised and the Holy Spirit came in the form of flesh like a dove upon Him.
Luke 4 New King James Version (NKJV)
Satan Tempts Jesus
4 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit [a]into the wilderness, 2 being [b]tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
Temptation is common for everybody. Somewhere, some place, some time you will be tempted. Yield to the Holy Spirit to overcome with strength and power. For forty days, Jesus was tempted. He was alone in the wilderness. Stand firm in the faith that you have taken. The Holy Spirit is there to guide and protect you. God the Spirit took the bodily form like a dove. The Spirit led Him to be tempted by the devil. At that moment when He was so weak, He was hungry. He went through as how a human body would go through. The first temptation that Jesus faced was food.
Adam fell into temptation because of the flesh. Esau was hungry and gave his rights to his brother.
Luke 4:3-4 New King James Version (NKJV)
3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, [c]but by every word of God.’ ”
Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3. The Word is so powerful.
We always give in to the flesh's desires. The satisfaction is for a moment.
When you have the Word of God, the Word of God will satisfy you.
1 Thessalonians 3:5 New King James Version (NKJV)
5 For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain.
Jesus set an example for us.
Luke 4:5-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
5 [a]Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
8 And Jesus answered and said to him, [b]“Get behind Me, Satan! [c]For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
God is not going to disappoint you.
What is your priority?
Put your priority right and God will do the rest.
The Holy Spirit is with you. You are an overcomer, not a deceiver.
He will be your friend. He will talk to you.
Luke 4:9-13 New King James Version (NKJV)
9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
‘He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you,’
11 and,
‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not [a]tempt the Lord your God.’ ”
13 Now when the devil had ended every [b]temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
From the beginning, Jesus created the world. And it was good.
Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 6:13.
Hebrews 4:12 New King James Version (NKJV)
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Luke 12:16-21 New King James Version (NKJV)
16 Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. 17 And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ 18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
21 “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
Seek the Lord and He will fulfil the desires of your heart.
Jesus is God and at the same time, He is human.
Deuteronomy 6:13 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 You shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name.
There is power in the Word of God.
The Lord will take care of you. Take a stand to follow Jesus and nobody else.
If you follow Jesus, you will make the right decision.
1 Peter 5:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
8 Be [a]sober, be [b]vigilant; [c]because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Guard yourself. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you.
