Loving Your Neighbour in the Home/Family

Mark 12:29-31 New King James Version (NKJV)
29 Jesus answered him, “The [a]first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ [b]This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Our neighbours (in our society, neighbourhood etc) are constantly looking for role models.

Influence of communication technology has entered into households as well.

"No mobile during dinner" campaign. Smartphones and tablets have taken the role of the babysitter.

Nobody at their death bed will say, "I wish I had spent more time in my office."

Many marriages are surviving rather than thriving.

One third of marriages end up in divorce in the first five years.

Many cases of infidelity occur due to social media.

Pornography has taken over from gambling.

According to a study, a parent spends an average of three minutes a day on meaningful interaction with their children.

An average child spends 50 hours a week on social media.

Cyberbullying is a big issue among the children.

If a child spends too much time on the screen they do not know how to spend time with people around them. They do not know how to interact.

Prevention is better than cure.

God did not stop at the creation of Adam and Eve.

Genesis 1:28a New King James Version (NKJV)

28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it;

And God rested on the seventh day.

The devil is active and is going around trying to destroy marriage institutions and family institutions.

Ephesians 5:25 New King James Version (NKJV)

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

Christ loved the church sacrificially and unconditionally without strings attached.

As a family, involve the children and ask what is the value? Honesty is one of them. Integrity is another.

Remind couples to keep the flames burning and keep the cup of love filled. It has to happen at home.

The importance of a family unit could not be further emphasised.

The church consists of families.

It is so easy to give thanks to God when everything seems smooth and easy.

If you are able to go through life's challenges and still quote 1 Thessalonians 5:17, then you are truly loving God with all your heart, soul and strength.

It is so easy to take our wife or husband for granted. But they are the ones who will go through life with us.

We have so worn out our keypads that we have not gone on our knees and worn out our knee pads.

We are so Google based that we are not Bible based.

How serious are we in being captured by the Word of God?

God has given us the gift of a child for a purpose.

Lead him or her to Jesus Christ.

It is God's desire to bless us.

Do not forget the LORD your God.

He owns it all.

We are just responsible stewards of what He has given us.

All good things come from God and to enjoy Him.

God wants us to love Him totally.

To love our neighbours, start with our family. Love God and His Word.
