When God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt in the wilderness He established what is known as "theocracy."
God says to Moses, "Go down there and tell Pharaoh to set My people free."
God Himself will rule and become King to His people.
He says to them, "From this day on you will become for Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." (Exodus 19)
God wanted them to see and know that their old king is dead. Pharaoh himself drowned in the Red Sea.
God doesn't want us to be runaway slaves on the loose.
Exodus 19:5-6 New King James Version (NKJV)
5 Now therefore,
if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall
be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the
earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me
a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the
words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
430 years under Egyptian slavery they forgot who God is--the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
God gave them everything they need to be a priesthood and enter into holiness and righteousness.
There is a system for the atonement of sin.
"Because I am a Holy God, you and the land I will give you to live will be a "Holy land."
Israel did not obey His law and commandments. From day one, they worshipped idols.
Moses prophesied just before they entered the land:
Deuteronomy 29:24-29 New King James Version (NKJV)
24 All nations
would say, ‘Why has the Lord done so to this land?
What does the heat of this great anger mean?’ 25 Then people would
say: ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of
their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of
Egypt; 26 for they went and served other gods and
worshiped them, gods that they did not know and that He had not given to
them. 27 Then the anger of the Lord was
aroused against this land, to bring on it every curse that is written in
this book. 28 And the Lord uprooted
them from their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast
them into another land, as it is this day.’
29 “The
secret things belong to the Lord our
God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and
to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
He addressed the second generation. The old generation had died.
They were exiled for 70 years.
The mysteries of the Bible belongs to God. If He chooses to reveal to you, it belongs to you and you are to share it to your children and others.
The Bible must be read, inspired by the Holy Spirit. And then in the favour of God and in His timing, He will reveal the truth to you.
In Romans 11, Paul writes that Israel is the biggest mystery.
Many Christians do not understand the mystery (secret) of the Holy Land. They think just because it is their land, they can live however they wish.
The Word of God says that the land is given to them as an everlasting possession but the privilege of living in the land is dependent on their obedience and faithfulness to God.
It is not possible for any ethnicity of people can do it and serve God faithfully for 42 generations.
God can uproot them and remove the privileges of living in the land.
We see that in their exile to Babylon.
In God's grace, it was for 70 years in order for them to have enough time to prepare for the first coming of Jesus.
The Jews have been dispersed to the four corners of the earth.
Today God has brought them back to their land for one reason alone: to bring them to salvation in Jesus.
The church was born at the day of Pentecost.
God stopped dealing with Israel and put them in the backburner for 2,000 years.
Now God is dealing with the Israel and the church.
God wants the church to understand what His promises for Israel. He has never forsaken His covenant and promises with Israel.
1) Principle of Domicile
Deuteronomy 30:1-6 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Blessing of Returning to God
30 “Now it shall come to pass, when all these things come
upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you,
and you call them to mind among all the nations where
the Lord your God drives you, 2 and
you return to the Lord your God and obey His
voice, according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with
all your heart and with all your soul, 3 that the Lord your
God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather
you again from all the nations where the Lord your
God has scattered you. 4 If any of you are
driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your
God will gather you, and from there He will bring you. 5 Then
the Lord your God will bring you to the land which your fathers
possessed, and you shall possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more
than your fathers. 6 And the Lord your
God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you
may live.
Moses prophesied even before they entered the land. There will come a time in the future He will bring them back because He is God and we are not.
V5 & 6 is happening now.
Before 1948, there were no Jews who were Christians who believed in Jesus as the Messiah.
Today, 25% of Israeli Jews are orthodox.
Now, the number is almost 60,000-70,000 Messianic Jews.
Their destiny and our destiny will be fulfilled when Jesus comes back.
But there will always be punishment for sin.
God the father will always punish His son, Israel. But He will bring them back to the land promised to their fathers because He loves them.
This is a principle, not a timing issue.
The Parable of the Prodigal Son is about two sons--one is Israel and the other is the church.
2) Principle of Righteousness
She has the right to live in the land as long as she is faithful to God.
When you follow a system, you become drawn to the system instead of God.
Without the Holy Spirit, you simply cannot follow God and obey God.
Only through the blood of Christ is righteousness revealed.
We are so blessed as a Christian today to see Israel's establishment and we see the workings of God.
You are the most blessed Christian of all the generations.
She will be driven from the land if she turns away from God.
God is a God of love but He is also a God of righteous anger and wrath.
Our faith cannot be tested in the comfort of life.
Faith can only be tested in the ultimate cases of brokenness and adversity.
Jesus did not come to abolish the Law. He came to fulfil it.
The story of Joshua 5:14-15:
Joshua 5:14-15 New King James Version (NKJV)
14 So He said,
“No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have
now come.”
And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped,
and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?”
15 Then the
Commander of the Lord’s army said to
Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you
stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.
The Lord tells Joshua to take off his sandals/shoes and follow Him and He will lead him.
Shoes is a symbol of pride.
The Lord Jesus often appeared in the Old Testament as God angel man.
God does not need our ability, He needs us to be in His presence.
We (who belong to Jesus) have the right to claim all His promises as long as we are faithful to God.
When Israel is fully spiritually reconciled to God, she will dwell securely in the land. (Ezekiel 36:24-28)
Ezekiel 36:24-28 New King James Version (NKJV)
24 For I
will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and
bring you into your own land. 25 Then I will sprinkle
clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all
your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give
you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of
stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I
will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and
you will keep My judgments and do them.28 Then you shall
dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and
I will be your God.
3) Principle of Discipline
God is a God of order.
Jeremiah 25:6-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 Do not go
after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger
with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’ 7 Yet
you have not listened to Me,” says the Lord, “that you
might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.
8 “Therefore
thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Because you
have not heard My words, 9 behold, I will send and
take all the families of the north,’ says the Lord, ‘and
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them
against this land, against its inhabitants, and against these nations all
around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a
hissing, and perpetual desolations. 10 Moreover I
will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the
voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the
millstones and the light of the lamp. 11 And this whole
land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations
shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
God is determined to discipline her.
The instruments He brings against Israel are her enemies, the nation and people surrounding her.
We also have unseen spiritual enemies.
We need to pray against them.
4) Principle of Retribution
God uses the surrounding nations as instruments of correction.
But their intention is always the total destruction of Israel and the Jewish people, because their intention is evil.
Even now they want to destroy Israel.
God will sometimes allow them to.
God is a living God. He ia working in your life today.
Zechariah 1:14-15 New King James Version (NKJV)
14 So the angel
who spoke with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of
hosts:
“I
am zealous for Jerusalem
And for Zion with great zeal.
15 I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease;
For I was a little angry,
And they helped—but with evil intent.”
And for Zion with great zeal.
15 I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease;
For I was a little angry,
And they helped—but with evil intent.”
God will make a full end of them.
Isaiah 49:25-26 New King James Version (NKJV)
25 But thus says the Lord:
“Even the
captives of the mighty shall be taken away,
And the prey of the terrible be delivered;
For I will contend with him who contends with you,
And I will save your children.
26 I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh,
And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine.
All flesh shall know
That I, the Lord, am your Savior,
And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”
And the prey of the terrible be delivered;
God says, "I am the enemy of the enemies of Israel."
He will discipline without repair those whom He called.
Isaiah 51:21-23 New King James Version (NKJV)
21 Therefore please hear this, you afflicted,
And drunk but not with wine.
22 Thus says your Lord,
The Lord and your God,
Who pleads the cause of His people:
“See, I have taken out of your hand
The cup of trembling,
The dregs of the cup of My fury;
You shall no longer drink it.
23 But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you,
Who have said to [a]you,
‘Lie down, that we may walk over you.’
And you have laid your body like the ground,
And as the street, for those who walk over.”
And drunk but not with wine.
22 Thus says your Lord,
The Lord and your God,
Who pleads the cause of His people:
“See, I have taken out of your hand
The cup of trembling,
The dregs of the cup of My fury;
You shall no longer drink it.
23 But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you,
Who have said to [a]you,
‘Lie down, that we may walk over you.’
And you have laid your body like the ground,
And as the street, for those who walk over.”
He will allow Israel to pass through a period of affliction, even war and death, as we see today.
The purpose is to bring her to the saving grace of Jesus, her Messiah.
"I am the Great I Am. I Am God."
