2 Kings 13:10-20a New King James Version (NKJV)

Jehoash Reigns in Israel

10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, [f]Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz became king over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years. 11 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord. He did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin, but walked in them.

12 Now the rest of the acts of Joash, all that he did, and his might with which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 13 So Joash rested[g] with his fathers. Then Jeroboam sat on his throne. And Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

Death of Elisha

14 Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die. Then Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, “O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!”

15 And Elisha said to him, “Take a bow and some arrows.” So he took himself a bow and some arrows. 16 Then he said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow.” So he put his hand on it, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands. 17 And he said, “Open the east window”; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot”; and he shot. And he said, “The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; for you must strike the Syrians at Aphek till you have destroyed them.” 18 Then he said, “Take the arrows”; so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; so he struck three times, and stopped. 19 And the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times.”

20 Then Elisha [h]died, and they buried him.

All of us are like arrows in the eyes of God. (Psalm 127)

Your life has a trajectory. Your life has a pathway. Your life has an end in mind.

He hides us in His quiver. He wants to launch us.

Your life has a direction. God is a divine GPS.

You may be in the middle of a mess so great that you can't get out but the divine GPS will take you from where you are.

God calls us to be an arrow. He means it for us to meet the mark.

Think prophetically. God has created each of us uniquely for the purpose that no one else can do.

The time will come when you will be launched.

It's a tragedy when we are totally unprepared in critical moments.

Hokusai believed that his great work would be done at 110.

At the age of 60 he began life again.

He went through a period of unproductivity.

God has a trajectory and a destination for you.

God has something amazing for you but you need to know how to be an arrow in the hand of God.

Jehoash was in a bit of panic. He's worried for the nation and for himself.

Elisha comes to him and gives him a picture of his life.

(2 Kings 13:15-17)

Syria (Aram) was more towards north east.

The east is not the place where Aram is.

East is where God (the sun) rises. (Isaiah 45:6)

Point your arrows towards God.

Point towards God.

Don't be concerned with the issues. Don't be orientated towards concerns and problems.

God will direct you.

Prayer is like that.

As he pointed towards God and not knowing about the specific direction, Elisha placed his hands toward the bow and he moved it.

In the school of prayer, God wants to move us towards Him.

The track isn't the thing. The track is God.

Have a good feel of God's presence. Spiritual knowledge is not about reading things on the page. It is about God showing things to us.

God's Hand upon your hand is greater than anything else. You will never be the same once you've experienced the presence and comfort of God.

Faith comes by hearing.

God brings us to a place where the Word of God and the promise of God hit us.

You cannot take the promise of God as separate. God wants to make you one with the word. The word of God is the presence of God.

John 8:28-32 New King James Version (NKJV)

28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift[a] up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. 29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” 30 As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.

The Truth Shall Make You Free

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The works of God is God becoming alive in you.

It has to break the shell of your unbelief.

The word of God is powerful. He will come up and become the Lord of your life. he will change you. He will cause you to deal with the idols of your life.

His (Jehoash's) fruit is Jeroboam and brought the golden calves. (1 Kings 12:25-33)

God is completely assured and completely reliable.

Set our mind towards God.

Our spirit changes.

Before the things come to pass, we become one with the promises and trajectory of God.

You and I have arrows in our hands. We are called to impart on our children and spiritual children spiritual things.

Let God raise you first. Impart the liveness of God. They have to see it happen in your life.

They have to know that ministry is a joyous thing. Pass on to them the joy of doing the work of God and God does amazing things.

Our children are arrows in the Hand of God. Pray with them so that they know the unconditional love of God.

You and I have arrows in our hands. Take care of them and disciple them.
