360° Vision for the New Year

Pr Koh Chu Soon
11-02-2018

Look back:
Look back and see God's faithfulness for and in our lives. Remember His faithfulness and goodness. God supplies bountifully. This causes our faith to arise.

Children of Israel at the threshold of the Promised Land: "Remember"

Deuteronomy 7:18-19 New International Version (NIV)
18 But do not be afraid of them; remember well what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt. 19 You saw with your own eyes the great trials, the signs and wonders, the mighty hand and outstretched arm, with which the Lord your God brought you out. The Lord your God will do the same to all the peoples you now fear.

They saw God's hand in their trials. Remember God's hand in our trials. Remember the time when God performed miracle in our lives.

Deuteronomy 8:2New King James Version (NKJV)
2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

Remember God's testing and dealings to humble us so that we learn to trust in Him.

Recall those times that God had to deal with us.

Deuteronomy 8:18 New King James Version (NKJV)
18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Our abilities are from God. Look back and recognise and realise that God bestows the talents.

Apart from Christ, we are nothing.

Deuteronomy 16:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
3 You shall eat no leavened bread with it; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, that is, the bread of affliction (for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste), that you may remember the day in which you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

God's deliverance from the bondage of sin and brought us from darkness into His marvellous light.

Thank Him for all the times that God had been faithful and the times when God had to teach us a humble lesson and we moved on and saw the goodness of God in our lives. He gave us the talent and ability and it is not something that we should boast about.

God gave us the gift of salvation. He has adopted us into His family. He had been with us through the darkest mountain and the deepest valley.

Look inside:
2 Corinthians 13:5New King James Version (NKJV)
5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.

Examine yourself. Have you really put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ?

How is my relationship with God? How much time am I spending with God on a daily basis?

Am I aiming to please God with my life?

God, what do You want of me, or is it what I want for me?

Is our life committed to Him or not?

A prayer to God to reveal to us:
Psalm 139:23-24 New King James Version (NKJV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

Look up:
Psalm 121:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV)
God the Help of Those Who Seek Him
A Song of Ascents.
121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

Hebrews 12:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Race of Faith
12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus is at the finish line.

Pray. Seek the Lord. Stand in the gap and intercede for the needs around us.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 New King James Version (NKJV)
17 pray without ceasing,

Philippians 4:6-7 New King James Version (NKJV)

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 New King James Version (NKJV)

Pray for All Men

Therefore I [a]exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in [b]authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and [c]reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

Prayer pleases God.

Our nation needs our prayer.

Turn to the Lord. Cry out to the Lord and ask Him to intervene.

We are privileged to have direct access to the throne room of God the Father.

Prayer directs our direction and focus towards God. Let God be the first person that we turn to.

Prayer helps us to see things in perspective.

Prayer humbles us. Prayer puts us in a position that we recognise that only God can do it. It puts us in our place.

God had chosen prayer to be the vehicle that He moves in this world. God has chosen to respond to our prayer.

Look forward:
Proverbs 29:18New King James Version (NKJV)
18 Where there is no revelation,[a] the people cast off restraint;
But happy is he who keeps the law.

Have a vision of the future. Have a vision of eternity.

God has created us for eternity.

Most of us just can't be bothered with eternity and spend so much time focusing on the physical life and totally forgetting about eternity.

Matthew 6:19-21 New King James Version (NKJV)
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Where is my heart? Is it in all the material trappings of this life? Or is it storing up treasures in heaven?

Matthew 7:21-23 New King James Version (NKJV)
I Never Knew You
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of eternity.

Invest in souls. Invest in sharing the Gospel.

Do you know for sure that you would be with God in heaven when you die?

2 Corinthians 4:18New King James Version (NKJV)
18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 5:1-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
Assurance of the Resurrection
5 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

The Judgment Seat of Christ
9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11 Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

Look around:
John 4:35New King James Version (NKJV)
35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

Luke 10:2 New King James Version (NKJV)
2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

Share the Gospel.

2 Timothy 2:1-2New King James Version (NKJV)
Be Strong in Grace
2 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

2 Timothy 1:7 New King James Version (NKJV)
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Matthew 28:19 New King James Version (NKJV)
19 Go therefore[a] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Mark 16:15 New King James Version (NKJV)
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Make disciples.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7New King James Version (NKJV)
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Who are we discipling today?

God's Masterplan

Elder Ho Kien Keong
04-02-2018

God creates us like Him.

God created Adam and Eve in His image and bless them to rule over all the things that He created.

But man failed God.

God was not discouraged.

Genesis 12:1-3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Promises to Abram
12 Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

God created a nation--a people set aside for Him.

That's God's heart for us.

The Old Testament showed that many a time that His people failed Him.

But that does not mean His masterplan failed.

Jeremiah 29:11-13New King James Version (NKJV)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

In the New Testament, God's plan went one step further--He sent His own Son to fulfil God's masterplan.

We can now take our sins and give it to Jesus.

We have been chosen and redeemed by God. (Ephesians 1:3-14) We are all beneficiaries in God's masterplan.

God's masterplan has got a structure in which He releases His blessings--the body of Christ that works together. (1 Corinthians 12:17)

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in us. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

We are the bride of Christ. (Ephesians 5:27)

We are a royal priesthood, holy nation, God's special possession. (1 Peter 2:9)

1 Peter 2:9 New King James Version (NKJV)
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

New Heaven, New Earth.

Revelation 21:1-4New King James Version (NKJV)
All Things Made New
21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John,[a] saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

What if, one year from now, we are part of a community?

What if, all of us find a place to serve God in this community?

What if, holiness comes into you?

What if, we come to worship and to transform lives, to heal and to restore?

God knows better.

The Promised Land:
In the book of Numbers, that is the season for the people of God to enter the Promised Land.

God says, "Give me 12 leaders to go into the land and spy the land."

Out of the 12, 10 came back and gave a different report.

All 12 said the grapes represent the fruitfulness, blessings of the land. God wants to bless us. All 12 said the land is filled with milk and honey.

They saw giants. (Numbers 13:33)

But the 10 said all was good but...

They contended with Moses. (Numbers 20:3)

Giants are there to keep us away from receiving the full blesssings of God.

For us, is it that giant of unforgiveness?

Or is it a giant of fear?

The giants will always make you feel like grasshoppers.

The leaders had forgotten the vision and masterplan of God.

God had asked them to go into the land.

God gave the right spirit to two persons.

Numbers 14:24New King James Version (NKJV)
24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.

We are to lead our family into the plans and purposes of God.

There is always a long term result in the short term way we act.

Our spirit must capture the masterplan of God.

Numbers 14:6-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; 7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.

Is the LORD pleased with your life and my life?

Numbers 14:8-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
8 If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’[a] 9 Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”

Does God see in us a desire to transform to be more and more like Him?

Matthew 6:33 New King James Version (NKJV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Because of their rebellion, God had to take action. For 40 years, they were prevented from entering.

Joshua 1:1-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
God’s Commission to Joshua
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: 2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 *Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.* 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

God's word in their mouth will give them the courage to speak to their giants.

God's word in their mind will transform them.

God's way is always from Him.

Make the word of God central in your life and God will give you a breakthrough. Do not be afraid. Go in and take control. God is with you.

Walk along God's masterplan path and He will bless you. It is not only material blessings. Your prosperity could be in your family. Everything falls within God's masterplan.

We need to be bold and courageous. The times are different today. There's greater challenges.

Galatians 3:29New King James Version (NKJV)
29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Today is just as important and relevant.

I enter and walk in God's plan.

The number 40 is significant:

At the end of the 40 days, David defeated the giant Goliath.

Moses spent 40 years running away and 40 years leading God's people.

Jesus spent 40 days and nights praying.

After His resurrection, He spent 40 days before His ascension into heaven.

This year is a very important year. You and I have a call to now move and possess the land.

We stand at the threshold because we were the pioneering church 39 years ago.

We are the body of Christ. We are a holy people and a royal priesthood.

God will push the giant out and bring the inheritance to the next generation.

Don't look back. Look forward.

Isaiah 43:18-20New King James Version (NKJV)
18 “Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
20 The beast of the field will honor Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I give waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My people, My chosen.

You are more than conquerors in Christ. (Romans 8:31-39)

You are heirs of the promises of blessings, prosperity and success that God has promised to Abraham.

Move forward from now onwards.

Let's go! We can!
