Be Significant like Hur was to Moses

Exodus 17:15 New King James Version (NKJV)
15 And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner;[a]

Moses received a vision from God to take 2,500,000 slaves from Egypt to the land of Canaan.

This is the story of Moses saving Israel.

This is the point of view of people who were being led.

Israel had just won a battle.

Moses declared, "The Lord is my banner."

Bannermen raise banners to support their king to go where ever he goes. They raise the banner of the king.

Moses had 12 tribes with him. They all have their own structures.

But they fight together under the same banner.

"The Lord is my banner!"

For the church, that banner is Jesus Christ.

Exodus 17:8-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
Victory over the Amalekites
8 Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9 And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.”

Why should we do revival? Doing revival is hard.

Verse 8 explains that the war is already upon us.

Moses didn't pick his fight.

When Jesus died on the cross, satan came and pick a fight with us.

Revival should happen. It is not somebody's ambition.

Satan is trying to stop us from going to the Promised Land.

Satan wants us to sleep and do nothing. Don't preach the gospel. Keep your friends.

But Moses could see God's plan.

Only our leaders can see further than us.

Thank God that He sends us spiritual fathers who see beyond.

If Moses didn't command Joshua to move and fight the devil, we'd be dead already.

Revival is a wake up call.

Moses chose Joshua because he was the one who has the talents.

I am not a natural leader. I don't stand out. I always stand back.

When Joshua is taking action, I say "You go first." I don't usually say "Send me."

Exodus 17:10 New King James Version (NKJV)
10 So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

When the devil is attacking, the natural reaction is to stay back or give all kinds of excuses.

"Let the young people serve God."

Aaron represents those who are full-timers.

The church is a multi-part organism. There are the leaders. And there are the Aarons, the priests.

In the Bible, Aaron's the one whom God has chosen to help Moses.

But there is also Hur. Suddenly there's Hur.

He never speaks. He's probably not young. But he climbs with Moses and Aaron.

This movement is not only for the young people.

Hur was never specifically chosen.

There is a part for you in church vision.

The ones who were never chosen. The ones who are not young. The ones who were always left out. The ones who only think of their own banners.

Exodus 17:11-13 New King James Version (NKJV)
11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became [a]heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

Whenever the church is more anointed, you become more anointed. Whenever the church is growing in impact and influence, you will grow in impact and influence. Whenever the church is growing in wisdom, you will grow in wisdom.

There is a positive correlation between the church and your life.

Exodus 17:15 says, "The Lord is my banner."

Moses won because he lifted up God's vision. That's why Moses had the anointing to split the Red Sea.

His banner was Jesus Christ. He was praying God's vision.

But Moses could not do it alone.

God will use anyone who stands up for him.

Hur stood up together with Moses and Aaron.
